Therapy, in my opinion, is a process of change or transition. It is not easy. It is hard work. Sometimes we desire change in our lives, but sometimes life causes changes that we would never choose. I have the utmost respect for the clients who have, over the years, had enough courage to come into this process in my offices. I believe very strongly in the mission of my job as a therapist. My approach has always been to create a comfortable relationship with clients as part of the process. Research has always indicated that the relationship between the therapist and the client is the most important factor in client improvement. As such, I make a conscious effort to honor theory, technique, and my education, but also to perform the job in a comfortable, cheerful office setting. I am compassionate, goal directed, and have dealt with a wide variety of life issues in my 20+ years of doing this work.
Choosing the right fit for therapy is a very important decision. I have enjoyed working with individuals, married and unmarried, and in a variety of challenging aspects, such as grief, stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, and other mood disorders. I am also willing to work with clients as young as adolescents. Four years of experience in working in direct contact with medical professionals has benefited me in working with psychiatrists or other medical providers. I also have significant experience with working with every variety of couples and relationships. I have extensive experience in premarital and marital work, infidelity issues, men's issues, anger issues and comprehensive communication strategies for managing couples through the toughest of times.
I value my experience as a therapist with a variety of treatment populations and diverse client issues and challenges. I have learned a great deal from my clients about the nature of human conditioning, stress, and recovery from many complex life situations. It has created in me a respect for ALL humans, from a variety of different backgrounds and orientations. Most importantly, my career to this point has given me hope in the spirit of humanity and its resiliency to overcome life's most difficult obstacles and circumstances.
